Your rights as a temporary worker under the Agency Workers Regulations 2010.
Last updated: 1 July 2026
The Agency Workers Regulations 2010 (AWR) give agency workers certain rights when they are supplied to work temporarily for a hirer. They apply to workers placed by Starff with our clients.
From the first day of an assignment, you are entitled to access the same shared facilities as the hirer’s own staff (such as canteens and parking) and to be informed of relevant vacancies with the hirer.
After 12 continuous calendar weeks in the same role with the same hirer, you qualify for equal treatment on basic working and employment conditions. Certain breaks pause the clock; others reset it.
Once qualified, you are entitled to the same basic pay and conditions — including relevant bonuses, paid holiday and working time — as if you had been recruited directly by the hirer for the same role.
We track qualifying periods for each assignment, apply equal treatment when it becomes due, and ensure holiday entitlement is accrued and paid under the Working Time Regulations throughout.
If you have questions about your AWR rights on an assignment, contact your Starff account team at hello@starff.co.uk.
